4Runner and sound proof

Before posting this question, I did a search and couldn't find any relevant topic .

I find that road noise inside my 4R is quite high and thinking of ways to reduce it. Has anyone did such project?. What should I look for when it comes to sound proofing a vehicle?.

Go on Ebay and buy a bulk pack of Dynamat extreme, or "ultimate," from a compnay called B- Quiet, sound deadener! Install it underneath your door panels, and in your rear cargo are under the carpet (Must be adhered to the sheet metal of the car.) It will cost you a couple hundred dollars (200-300 maybe) but it will make a HUGE diferrence.

If you do not want to do it yourself, go on down to your local Best Buy, or Car Audio shop and ask them how much it will cost to "dynamat" your car.

For what it's worth, I noticed a lot of wind noise coming from the right side doors on the highway. I checked the weatherstripping on all the doors and found a slight gap where the seal on the door would not fully contact the seal on the body/jam. I realigned the stripping and applied some 3M doublesided tape to adjust it a bit. Now both seals contact eachother and the noise is reduced. Mind you that I still hear outside noise on the highway but it is less pronounced. So you might want to also check all the weather stripping on your doors, hatch & moonroof too. Applying some undercoating may help too like Jrunr mentioned. Just make sure a reputable shop does it right. You don't want some shmoe just spraying stuff everywhere and covering up holes, joints, or connectors etc. where it shouldn't be.
