4Runner delivery hold

No as far as I know that's the only one. I am surprised they are not on the forum because from what the salesman told me they ordered early in the summer and I think they paid a premium.

My dealer called me yesterday, still no movement. He wanted to confirm my trade in, and the numbers we agreed on a couple months ago. I was super excited when I saw that on my called ID... only to be disappointed again. He did say he is expecting the truck next week. We shall see......

I did get the truck about 1200 off MSRP and they gave me KBB on my trade. So, I feel I got a good deal.

He also told me that the reason these trucks are taking so long is the TRD pro parts and Dealer add on's are being added after shipment. (Which seems like a very expensive way to do things)

Passed on one 65miles from me and now there's one 5 miles from me. What the hell is my dealer doing? I could be driving one by now. I'm going to negotiate today!

Negotiating on one atm. Apparently, cars.com under priced the TRD pro by $2200 below MSrp. Dealer is shocked and said they would have to honor. Fingers crossed

Nicer than my taco. I got it for $40,340 cars.com price! Got a cargo tray as well which I didn't know until I parked at work.
Now time to call other dealer to cancel my order.

Congrats! I have the same one and I traded my 2011 Tacoma in on mine. It was great but it was a teenagers truck compared to the fully grownup 4Runner. All the cool stuff that the Tacoma will hopefully someday have(at least some of it). I'm enjoying watching you guys hunt down these Pro's. I was lucky. Mine sat on a lot for 3 weeks plus, unkown until I saw it while looking for a tacoma pro. Luckly the dealer really didn't know what he had either.....I haven't stopped smiling yet. Have fun and keep smiling!

Just got the call from my dealer. My TRDP arrived last night. Pick up tomorrow after they add the remote start.

Ok I went to the dealer to make sure it was real. I noticed all the lug nuts and a bolt on the suspension had a yellow and blue mark on them. Not sure you can make it out on the photos. They didn't prep it yet so it looks like a temporary mark. Wondering if this has anything to do with the hold at port. Did anyone else have these marks?

the factory applies those paint marks pretty much on every bolt that receives a torque bar. lets techs see if its been tampered with or moved since torquing

Toyota dealers "there's a sucker born everyday" response list:

  • Boat ran out of fuel, tug in route to bring your truck to port.
  • They sent your truck without oil, only the port can add, and they're short handed.
  • The auto carrier driver exceeded his driving time and needs the next week to recover.
  • Japanese holiday has delayed shipping, check back next month.
  • Red thread used to stitch your Softex seats currently out of stock, Palauan supplier on strike.
  • Sweeds asked for Japanese help in finding lost Russian Sub, Team Toyota heading the effort . . long delays expected
  • Oscar Pistorius asked that he be able to test drive a TDRP before serving his sentence, yours was selected!
  • Tundra transmission smoked while pulling Space Shuttle, your TRDP is the replacement!
  • A few select vehicles were pulled from inventory at port to check quality control. Usually they select limited quantity vehicles, that people have been waiting the longest to attain for pull back.

Did I miss any?

labor strike at ports months ago still screwing everything up. no lie, I was told that.

I worked one summer parking cars at a local stealership. Here are some bullshit excuses I heard--some also from my later car-buying escapades with my now ex-wife...

Auto carrier's battery died.
Auto carried delivered your vehicle to the wrong dealer... and it has been SOLD!
New sales guy drove your truck to get detailed, now can't find the keys... or the truck...
They installed the wrong color interior and Toyota won't let us sell it that way.
The wheels and tires that are installed at port are backordered.
Discrepancy between the build sheet and the actual equipment, Toyota needs to investigate.
Key fob batteries died, truck won't open, but has also somehow disappeared from the lot and into the Aether.
They put the wrong fluid into the diff/trans/blinker reservoir.
They shipped us a Canadian model by mistake, Nathan Filion reclaimed it while wearing a floral bonnet.
Fire/pirates/Kraken/Whalesquid/Bermuda Triangle/Langoliers/Aliens delayed ship to port.
Keys lost at port.
Destination paperwork lost/forged/stolen. Truck is floating in the abyss between universes.
Bar code VIN doesn't match stamped VIN.
Window VIN etching doesn't match stamped/bar code VIN.
They put Scion badging on it by mistake.
They put Lexus badging on it by mistake.
Comes with summer tires, Toyota won't let them be sold without useless all-weathers in a snow state.
Undercoating misapplied.
Lost the wheel lug lock key thingy.

I'll see if I can remember more.

My TRD Pro also came with the same torque marks on the bolts.

The shock cover is crushed at the top. Mine came the same way and now is being replaced under warranty. Should look like an accordion. But plan on a wait, I was told in April that shock would be ready in June and now being told August. I thought it would be an easy replacement of the cover, but they told me it would have to be the whole shock and currently is back-ordered.
