4Runner does Very well in Insurance Ratings!

The latest State Farm insurance ratings are out and the 4th generation 4Runner does very well indeed. This report rates all vehicles in three categories: Liability Rating Index (LBI); Damage/Theft Index (DTI); and how much safety discount it should get from an "average" vehicle.

In both the LBI & DTI the 4Runner rates the highest with an "A" rating, which means better than average. It also is entitled to a 20% safety discount (in most states).

State Farm posts this info:

Cool info. Thanks. My G-wagen also got an "A." I am now gonna demand discount on my insurance policy with State Farm!:)

My All State agent told me the 4Runner was an excellent vehicle back in Jan 03 when I insured it for the first time:)

I knew the thing was pretty safe with all the various safety systems it has. But it must also be a pretty low theft vehicle - which surprises me.

Not to get to off course w/ the thread, but screw State Farm.

My family in Florida is haveing nothing but trouble w/ state farm. They got hit 3 times by the Hurricanes this past season and now they are sueing state farm because state farm isn't being fair and paying out completely.

Very sorry to hear that. Must be tough getting hit like that. Was there much damage?

How well are other insurance companies handling all the issues down there?

Sweet I've got Statefarm! I've had them for a couple years now and my family has had them for almost a decade now. With my multi-line and multi car insuarance discounts, my 4Runner isn't much more expensive to insure than my previous 1993 Celica

I won't get into the debate about how they are proceeding in Florida, becauce I'm sure its a complicated matter to insure in Hurricane Central. I've always been treated well in VA so no complaints there..

They cannot live in their house as we speak (or type) The whole house is basically deemed unliveable. Partly because State farm has been D*cking around and the house has gotten worse from not being repaired. In a nut shell State farm will not give no where near the amount needed to repair the house.

I can't say for sure about other insurance companies down there.

Back on topic, we pay @ $90.00 a month for our 05 SR5 4wd w/ Nationwide.

Again, sorry to hear that. I have had State Farm for many years on about everything except my biz & health insurance. They have been absolutely stellar in their service on the few claims I've had. Granted, the biggest thing was when my Mazda truck got stolen with a full compliment of tools in it, but they paid that thing way above my expectations. But that's no where near what a major house repair would be.

If I remember my numbers correctly, the 4Runner is only $48 per year more to insure than 4 cylinder Camry it replaced. The Pathfinder would have been $120 more.

Check your families State Farm coverage, your policy might not cover the full replacement value of you home, happens all the time

I'm not sure what they have for coverage. I do agree though, it may be possible they don't have enough coverage. For example, they requested quotes from several contractors to fix the roof, but State Farm was a few thousand if not more below the price needed to fix the roof. I don't know the whole scenerio, I live in Maryland and they are down there and all I know is it has been a constant battle. They also said others are having the same promblem too.
