4Runner Factory Alarm Mod?

I was searching the Tundra Solutions site for stereo info and came across an interesting thread. One of the TS members found that his Tundra came pre-installed with an alarm system and all he had to do to activate it was switch two plugs and play with the keyless remote. In order to make the system a full system (like the VIP RS3200/RS3000), only a Glass Break Sensor (PN 08192-00970) and LED Status Light (PN 08192-60880) was required. The wires were already there! So instead of paying a couple hundred bucks, he spent less than $50 and had the full VIP system self-activated. Does anyone know if our 4Runners come equipped like this?

Here is the thread I was reading:

I read this also, but after searching a little more, I don't think the 4Runner's have it. Only the Highlander and Tundra, maybe Sienna's. I searched under my dash and found a loose 40 pin connector and in under the hood I found a spard plug for an extra horn.

Unfortunately it doesn't work on the 4Runner. For the Tundra, the factory keyless entry is controlled by the alarm brain, but the alarm itself isn't activated and only needs a few additions to make it work. The keyless entry on the 4Runner however is controlled by the main ECU and that does not have an alarm brain. Thus, when you buy the VIP system for the 4Runner, it includes the alarm brain, while the one for the Tundra does not.

I hope that explains why they're different and the 4Runner requires the whole kit.
