4runner for 4runner (say that 3 times fast)

So i have a 98 with about 130k that i recently crashed, and with the amount it would take for repairs,i can buy a 96 that is for sale close by.problem is, it has 230k miles... now, i could buy the 96 and ride it till it dies, cause i have a spare 3.4! Do you guys think is worth it ? Both 4x4 auto. The 96 has tow package tho, mine didn't. I know that entails 4.30 any opinions? The guy is selling for 3500, probably could talk him down.. Opinions?

Oh, and this is how my 98 stands as of now... well not literally stands..

230k is a lot of miles , I would part out your truck and look for a truck with lower miles . Trucks with that many miles can nickel and dime you to death , and probably needs tb & wp ,

Well i still have to see the 96 and find out what the guy has or has not done, how much do you think an engine swap would run for? Cause mine didn't suffer in the accident

Tow package means it has a hitch and wiring harness. You only get 4.30 if you have an elocker.

I wouldn't do a engine swap if it runs good no matter what the mileage is .

I'm not sure how much some would charge you , would be a lot more if they have to pull the motor then reinstall it .

Might be worth it if you can do the swap yourself , 3500 for the truck then pay someone to swap motors ? Not worth it , sell or part the crashed truck , add the 3500 and you could find a low mile truck . Or just fix your truck , did you get a estimate of the damage ?

well thats what i was hoping to do, ride it till it dies then in case it does die, i have a spare. and i might be able to pull it off with my dad, if not i have a friend who owns a mechanic shop, he might help.

the repairs would cost as followed:
-new rear axle (whole) 300-600
-right steering knuckle,cv axle, lbj rotor.. 250
-bumper and grill 50-250?
radiator support 100
airbags 75-150
air box, fuse box, battery support and miscellaneous 100-300

and then would come the body shop stuff. the pics dont do it justice but the car scratched the whole passenger side ona wall... the paint and panel repair will probably be the most expensive thing, and i would still end up with a rebuilt car that might have hidden failures...
