Hey so one of my reasons for messing with the thermostat was to inspect/adjust the throttle position sensor. I noticed that it wasn't down shifting when I punched the gas on the freeway. So I took off the TPS while the thermostat housing was out and when I got everything back on and was driving I could not get it to rev past 2k with out it backing down to 1.3 KRPM on it's own, so I pulled over moved the TPS up and down and same thing. so I took off the TPS but left it connected to it's socket, and same thing, so I disconnected from the socket and left it off the intake and engine ran normal, what a relief! but of course the transmission is guessing when to shift. so I drove to the salvage yard I frequent and pull the TPS of an early 90s camery with the 4cyl 2000 series engine an it looked the same but mine is P125 and this one is M125. So I put it on and go for a test drive, running good but still don't feel the down shift when I punch the gas, now the pedal has always felt hard and felt no power while stepping on it to the floor. Then I notice the pedal travel feels about half of what I think is normal on other cars. So then it all clicks together in my mind, what has 24 yrs of flooring done to this pedal? I pull over and grab the pedal and pull on it, with enough force it bends back about and inch. I get back on the highway and BAM power! turbo kinkin' in reving to 4.5 k (turbo sounds awsome! no flow master could compare!) shifts I get up to speed and I floor it gain, the tranny down shifts and the engine revs and the turbo spools...
The end.
