There are 2 black runner knobs, one on each side that allow one to tighten the way the hood latches.
These two rubber knobs have a spring like mechanism inside of them, so when one simply turns the knob to the right and left, it will either tighten or losen the way the hood latches to the car.
Only way to find out if its working is to tighten and loosenthese knobs, whichever you ar etrying to achieve, and then shut the hood to see how tight the hood latches.
In your case, if one were to loosen the rubber knobs, (turning left), this will privde the hood with a tighter latch.
I have done this to mine. What spurred me to do it was when I would be driving down the highway at 80, I could see my hood fluttering up and down from the wind.
