4Runner is as good as I'd hoped

One of the lessons we get as we become older is "Anticipation is greater than realization." When we long for something, we're usually let down after we get it. Things just never meet expectations.

My 4Runner is as good as I thought/hoped it would be. Bet yours is, too.

I planned buying this puppy for 6 or 7 months. He has 2700 miles on him now (It's a boy)

Aside from a couple of nits I'll not even pick, I'm totally satisfied.

Don't get to say that very often.

Yes I have to say I love my 4Runner as well. Sometimes I think I'm a little obsessed.

I look at other SUV's in the same class on the road and wonder why in the world would you get anything but the 4Runner?

Sure I can have my appreciation for its older brother (GX470) and the new Range Rover's sleek looks and Porsche Cayenne's lines, but for the money, what else can you ask for in a ~$30-35K SUV?

I can easily see myself happy with this truck for 10 years. I see it aging well. Not only because it's a Toyota and it'll easily last that long, but because I feel it'll still look "cool" in 10-15 years like some of those old late '80's Landcruisers.

Congrat's, these 4Runner's do become an obsession.

I really love mine , even though it's not Salsa Red.....:D
 
I feel exactly the same way you do. There are a lot of things that I've bought, though none are as expensive as the 4R, but their flair and "wow" factor wore off pretty fast and sometimes, I think if it wasn't for impulse, I could've saved myself some money (a few things come to mind: iPod, media player, etc.). But the 4R, I don't even think twice about it, love what I got and it's worth every penny paid.

I'll bet this is your first 4Runner. After 5 years with Hermie, our prior '98 4Runner and 3 years with Ralf, our current '03, I'm still in awe of Toyota's quality and durability.

I tow a 4,000# rig (Porsche 911 on an open trailer) all over the Eastern/Midwestern/Southern USA /Ontario & Quebec. Never have I been let down, disappointed or less than pleased in any way (well, I guess better fuel mileage would be nice).

When the time comes to put Ralf out to pasture, guess what my first consideration for a new vehicle will be! Hopefully by then Toyota will have a quality common-rail direct injection diesel with ~ 500 lb/ft of torque in the 4Runner engine lineup.

Yes my only complaint about the truck is the gas mileage. But we all knew this buying it. I guess we're actually getting a lot more than previous generations.... not in actual MPG's, but more horsepower, a smoother ride, more standard features, more luxorious interior, AND a bigger load!

You sometimes wonder why couldn't they keep everything the same and just give us better gas mileage. Oh wait, the new Highlander is about the size of the older 4Runners :D At any rate, not a complaint. I love my truck.

I'm sure in the next few years Toyota will bring out a hybrid version of our beloved car.

Koz - if you've kept past messages, it fills up the inbox and no one can PM you. Has happened to me several times.
