4Runner on TV

The Torrance CA police spun out a murder suspect right in front of a 3RD generation Sport. Looks like the driver got out and ran. Going on right now on FOX news........ The police are using it as a shield. Anyone know how bulletproof a 4Runner is?

It's all over now. Lot's of shots fired. Suspect is probably dead or wishes he was. The 4Runner came through unscathed.

As morbid as it sounds, I love it when a police chase ends in dead criminals. It means they will not be sucking down tax dollars to take him/her to trial, keeping them in jail, etc.

One bullet is a lot cheaper than an attempt at rehabilitation!

Actually, this is probably not the case if he has any family. By the time the madatory paid suspensions, the use of force investigations, and wrongful-death lawsuits are over, they probably come out behind even if they don't lose the case. Our litigious society makes sure everyone pays!

Well, I'll chime in here with something that is 'technically' covered under the '4runner on TV' topic.

I watch the show '24' almost religiously. They make it quite obvious that certain advertisers are funding the show. For example, one episode, the entire CTU room had Dell monitors. The next week's show (about 1 min later in '24' time), all the monitors were switched out to gateway monitors. Last year, there were a plethora of Ford vehicles on the show.

Anyway... it was interesting to see Toyota on there this week. I was really tired, but I might even say it was a 4runner.

So there... thats my experience w/ runners on TV.

i saw that this morning. Good thing i was not on the 405 or 110 today, or i would of been pissed.

I saw the local cops use a sr5 4runner as an undercover vehicle with a dog in the back. I was at at local restraunt, and there were 5 cop cars, and a 4runner with the red an blue lights in the rear window. There was a nice german shepard in the back.

Me too. Love that show. It was a 4Runner on one show, there's a thread about it. Here it is...

Does any one have a link to a video of that car chase? I wanna see the Maxima outrun all of the cop cars. The 2 sec clip they had on my local news last night didn't do much for me...

I saw the video on Headline news this morning. The cop did a PIT maneuver on the Maxima and the 4Runner was along side all of the action. I just found the video on KNBC.com. Here is the link: http://www.nbc4.tv/traffic/9043148/detail.html
Thanks, Mark. That's the clip they showed on my local news last night. I was looking for a video of the whole chase, if there is one...

If I were that guy in the 4Runner, I'd a been OUT of there...

Especially if you're in California!

Maybe a Darwin Award nomination??

Man with one handgun he doesn't know how to aim continues shooting at SWAT team and many cops with guns they do know how to aim"

Sadly there are probably too many such events to consider nominating them for Darwin awards. Perhaps we should call it creative suicide instead.
