4Runner shaking at 55 mph.

I just started to notice that when i get to about 55 my 4runner starts to shake. As the peed rises it worsens and about 75 the car if violently shaking like its going to fall apart.

P.S.: It only has 10176 on the odo.

I have experienced something like that when my tires are in need of rotating but it starts at 55 and stops around 60 and it's not too bad. As soon as I get my tires rotated it stops so perhaps you bould be a little out of balance. I also run chunker tires. If not check you allignment.

Also, don't forget to retighten/retorque the lug nuts when you rotate and rebalance the tires after driving 25 miles.:driving:

What Brand and Size is your tires?

Have you been out playing in the mud lately? If so, you might check the inside of your wheels to see if there is dried mud packed in there. That is the first thing that I would check, because this can cause a violent shake. I hope it helps!

You may be right on the money because i have been riding in the mud lately.

What Brand and Size is your tires?

I still have plain stock tires.

Thanks for the info i had lots of mud caked on the inside of the rim. Got a powerwasher to clean it all out and now it works perfectly.:biggrin2: :bigok:

Hey man Merry Christmas to you and thanks for the tip. Saved me some big bucks that it would cost me to get tires rotated and balanced when all i needed to spend was $1.25 to power the powerwasher at the carwash.
