I have a 2000 4Runner Limited and I have found a "stock Amp" Model #8680-35080 for sale for $30. I have the stock AM/FM/Cassette CD radio in it now. Does anyone have one? Does it sound better? Is it easy to install? Will it fit? Where/how do I mount it? Thanks!

The radios that require the OEM amp have different wiring than the OEM radios with built in amps. Does the am you'r looking at have the std 2 separate plugs in and a single plug on a pig tail out? That single out pigtail would go into the OEM premium radio. You'd be better off with an aftermarket amp.

AMp

Thanks for the response. Yes the radio does have the standard 2 two plugs with no internal amp and the separte amp has a single plug with a pig tail out. So the plug from the car goes into the radio first and then the pig tail from the amp goes into the radio???? I know I would be better off with an aftermarket amp but I thought I'd try the stock amp first..

2 plugs now in radio go to amp and the single plug from the amp would go into the premium radio. On Older models (til bout 97) it was the one that said Anti-Theft on the cassette door.

Stock Amp

I have a stock amp in my 2002 limited. Does anyone know how to swap it out for an aftermarket amp?
Thanks,
