4Runner Upgrades

Hi all,

I have just paid off my 07 4Runner and want to make some improvements on them. Some examples are New headlights/brighter, New all weather mats, paint job, steering wheel replace/ refurb, replace the rain guards on doors, and possibly a new interior/ leather refurb, and a lift. I am also missing small parts like the passenger shade hilder is broken and I am missing the cover for the shift override. I am just wondering where to start really cause I am new to car upgrades and such. Thank you in advance!

Yeah, I f somebody could go ahead and create a 4Runner specific car forum, and create a community sourced collection of helpful tips, maybe pertinent to just 4th Gen owners that'd be great.

When it comes to upgrades, I always determine "need" vs. "want".
Now sometimes it's not always that black and white, so whichever you feel needs to be done first would be a great place to start. From the list you have together, it sounds like the headlights would be a great place to start, as safety should be a high priority. Places like ebay, rockauto, amazon, heck even your local parts store can get you a good set of headlight housings. Or, you can restore the headlights if they're not too far gone!

Like I said...things that make your 4runner more reliable rather than look better should always come first. Do your research and use the search function on this site and it should lead you in the right direction.:thumb3:

Very Funny 99! Yeah I agree with YotaGuy Besides those main sites is there a way to track down the small cosmetic parts to try and replace I looked on Rock auto but couldnt really find anything super specific

for small cheap parts like that sometimes your local dealership is the best place, otherwise you could check amazon. can always find anything on there, and a lot of non-local dealers sell oem parts on there as well.

as far as mods go, its your personal preference really. my go to right off the bat is bang for the buck as far as cosmetic appearance or functionality or maintenance. new wipers front and rear, led license plate lights, tint match the front windows, HIDs, new spark plugs, cabin and engine filters, interior mats etc etc etc. Can of seafoam is cheap and your truck will thank you for it.
