4Runner versus Bronco at the Track

Looking forward to see what the 6th gen 4Runner would do against the Bronco. At least it wasn't a bad loss for a 12 year old powertrain.

My money is on the 4Runner outlasting that complicated higher specific output Ford engine though

10 gears, 2 turbos? No thanks.

We get the Ford Ranger in this country - it looks the part, until you find out it's a highly tuned diesel engine with 8 speeds. I would not want to own one out of warranty.

I'd like to see the 5 year 100,000 mile long term test comparisons. Or the 10 year 200,000.... oh wait, the Ford will be scrap by then.

I'm keeping my 2011 140K mile 4runner for a long long time, other cars come and go.

While I like the look of the new Bronco and would like to see their reliability in year 3 or 4, I still remember the Escape I bought in 2002 or so.

Dead at 12,000 miles, something about dirty intakes and not covered under warranty. Sold it and never looked back at Ford.

I have no doubt the bronco is faster at the track than the 5th gen. Maybe a v8 4th gen would be a better match. However, I have no doubt which vehicle will be more reliable. As a former Ford guy, a part of me actually wants a bronco. At least a test drive. On paper and in pictures, they look great but maybe I wouldn’t want to own one long term. Lets see, first year, completely new vehicle, during covid, multiple supply shortages, built by Ford, what could go wrong, lol.

Two fat kids racing… Bronco, 4Runner, Wrangler, FJ, Taco, and so on. Costs are = to fast cars, intent for any are not the same as the fast cars lol!

The 4th Gen V8 is not faster than the 5th Gen V6.
It’s faster for people who drive a V6 like they would drive a V8. The V6 needs revs!

Really? I thought for sure the 4.7 would be quicker than the 5th gen. Our 5th gen feels sooooo slow, even my v6 4th gen feels quicker. I think if all the torque management was tuned out of the 5th gen, it would be worlds better.

So many red flags.

As an owner of the real Bronco, I would not trust the new Bronco, not with that turbo charged V-6 eco-crap....

IMO, 4RNR and new Bronco should not be in the same discussion....

Ford missed the mark so bad, all they had to do is drop in a NA 4L V6 or something similiar

The wait list for the Bronco is more than a year long, so it looks like excellent sales figures. And isn't the EcoBoost engine doing fine in other Ford vehicles?
