What is everyone opinion on which is better off-road vehicle?

depends on what trails you're going to wheel..
The Wrangler has a weak front axle, Ive been looking talking to jeep guys..
If you know how, to wheel then the CVs on the 4runners are a non-issue. Ive wheeled 8 rated trails even a 9 once didnt break anything.
Its all a matter of what you want, IMHO they both are pretty good.
Out here in Denver 4runners are a premium and Wrangles are dime a dozen.

Very simple - take a test drive with each from your house to wherever you go off-road. Make sure that stretch of road includes a highway. If you're OK with the Jeep, then get that.

You can find a lot of comparison videos and articles on the internet. If you can test drive both cars for an off-road adventure then go ahead.

If you want to pick something new up off a lot, and immediately go rock crawling in Moab, Wrangler Rubicon is the answer. For 99% of the off-roading most people are going to do, they're both equally capable, so it just comes down to which look you like better.

Both-man here.
2016 JK Unlimited Rubicon and 2015 4Runner SR5 4x4.

Jeep is amazing off-road but noisy (wind) on the highway above 70mph.
For around town and on specific off-road adventures, I prefer the Jeep. But there's a reason we have the RTT mounted on the 4Runner for our trips to the mountains and down trails. AT tires and 4WD, yeah it'll go almost anywhere we want to go and be more comfortable through it.
