4Runner vs Xterra... Boom !!!

1/5- Paid off my 2014 about 15 months early.

1/12 - So my wife and I woke up to a terrible boom at 3:30am and there you have it... Someone "fell asleep" behind the wheel and took out my '14 Trail with an '08 Xterra. Moved it a full car and half length up and a full lane over... Heart breaking. Despite it probably being totaled (rear quarter, cargo floor, rear door, rim, roof, etc, it was still able to drive itself up onto a flat bed on only 1 good wheel. Bulletproof, but sad.

Anxious to see what the insurance offers me. Any recommendations on sites that give blue book values? I want to be educated when they talk money.

Damn that’s rough. Hopefully insurance pays well. I’m in Canada so our valuation sites wouldn’t help much.

That is crap, if you can, go and take out everything you have installed ans put back the originals. Most insurance company wouldnt reimburse you for that stuff.

Sorry to hear that. I'm in Queens/Brooklyn and see this unfortunately more often than I like to on the service road of the Long Island Expressway.

Bummer. Best bet is to itemize all your upgrades/mods including installation etc. so you'll get covered for those. Then find actual market value for vehicles for sale in your area that are comparable. And add sales tax, title, and registration you'll have to pay. Those should all be paid for to put you back to the position you were in when you started.

Any damage to the rear axle? Unfortunately have had to deal too much with insurance companies trying to minimize the cost of repairs and value of car (to reduce likelihood of total loss). I’d really push it with them and make sure you get what you want- you did nothing wrong and it’s a total inconvenience. Agree with the post above regarding taking out any mods.

Kelley Blue Book gives blue book prices.

If the insurance adjusters try to say it's repairable, get your own favorite shop to estimate the cost using genuine Toyota parts, not aftermarket knock-offs.

I was going to say it was repairable until I saw the gas cap cover door was bent. :boom:

I was looking for a used Trail. Prices for used were the same as new. 50k miles vs 0 miles were the same price. In some cases I saw used vehicle would cost more then new. Wife finally bought me a new one.

Take a look at used retail prices in your area. Don't settle for the insurance payout. Consider that their first offer. The market for these rigs is great on resale.

Man, that's terrible. At least you weren't in the vehicle or injured. Good luck finding another newer 5th gen to replace it with
