4Runner's comfort

Hi to everyone!
Guys, I am from Ukraine.
I'm gonna to order 4runner-just one problem- this car is not yet at our Toyota's salons.
What's why I will be grateful for answer for my question.
I want to order TRAIL version - for travelling and hunting.
I am 74.8 inch tall. As I see from characteristic's the height of car is 181.6 inch.
I am afraid what when I will take driver's seats - I will take roof by my head.
Somebody, who has this TRAIL version and same height like me (or close)- please tell me how you fill yourself inside of car? And do you have hatch?
Second question- how is with soundproof inside, my neighbour has Sequoia ( I like this mounster- but it is too big ), and he said what soundproofing is not good- he has a lot of "crickets" ( I think because of car's dimension the body is not enough rigid).

I'm 6'1" and I have plenty of head room.... My new SR5 is very quiet compared to my last SUV(POS Merc Mountaineer)

Although I am only 68 inches in height, I have a friend that is 76 inches in height that has an 2010 SR5 with the sunroof/hatch. He has always been a pickup driver due to not having enough leg room in previous SUVs he has considered. He loves his 2010 4Runner, as it has plenty of room for him. Unless you are extremely short legged, you should have ample head room with the new 4Runner.

I will also echo that the new 4Runner is extremely quiet. It is the most quiet vehicle I have ever owned (my 3rd gen 4Runner being the previous). Sometimes I think that, combined with my seat heaters, this could be a dangerous combination (as in relaxing a bit too much).

I am the same height as you. I've never driven a vehicle with as much head and leg room as my new T4R Limited. I highly recommend the 8 way adjustable seat. I have it almost as low as it will go, and the seat tilted back slightly to maximize head and leg room. The lumbar support is fantastic.

Have you ever been in a Land Rover? The old Discovery and the newer LR3 & 4 have an incredible amount of head and leg room, almost to the point that it is ridiculous. I always thought they build those vehicles for giants or something. Even the Range Rover has almost too much space above the driver's head.

I'm 75 inches and I have no problems in the front seats. The back seats are a little close to my head so I have to slouch, but I'm never in the back seats. I have a trail with sunroof.

Because it is enough strange - to choose car from the pictures ( I specially came to Kiev to see it by own eyes and check "how is it" but manager from salon told me, what car is already sold.)
I have one guy in LA, and I ask him to help me with 4Runner Trail in Grey Magnetic color.
Hope what everything will be good.

I check through Google possible resourses - and found out your forum. I should to say what in Ukraine we have "already" 2 or 3 car, and in Russia probably nothing.
I was waiting for LC200 - but when I see it, I understood what it is not my car-"holiday's waiting sometimes is more cool than holiday". LC100 was brutal and legendary model, LC 200 - big elephant. I had Q7 - another big elephant, I sold it after one year. And really hope what 4Runner will right choose- it has brutal and muscle view, and elegance in same time.
Hope what for this model also will be different accesories for off-road.

First, check out the deminisions of the new 4 runner compared to your friends Sequoia, you might be surprised on how much bigger the new 4 runner is. Since you said your friends Sequoia is a monster, the 4 runner is not that much smaller as compared to previous versions. My friend has an 08 Sequoia, and we put both vehicles side by side. Not that much difference over all. Sequoia was just a little longer and taller. Seemed that the 4 runner was wider. But bottom line, they were pretty close over all.

Second, since sound is a concern, make sure you get the undercoating installed.

You've got to be kidding, right? The new Sequoia is larger than the older one, but even the older one is quite a bit bigger than the new 4Runner. You're comparing a midsize SUV (4Runner) with a fullsize SUV (Sequoia). If you look up the specs of the 2008 Sequoia, it is still much bigger than a new 4Runner---and it should be. The 4Runner isn't supposed to be a big vehicle in the first place.

Here's the exterior dimensions:

Length: 2010 4Runner: 189.9" --- 2008 Sequoia: 205.1"
Width: 2010 4Runner: 75.8" --- 2008 Sequoia: 79.8"
Height: 2010 4Runner: 71.5" --- 2008 Sequoia: 74.6"

Jed, I never said the 2010 was bigger then the 2008 Sequoia. I said as compared to previous versions of the 4 runner, it seems that the 2010 is bigger. Am I wrong? I could be, but it sure looks like it.

And I compared the 2010 to the 2008 Sequoia side by side, ( I know, looks can be deceving), but I was surprised how close in size 4 runner "looked" as compared to the Sequoia. I know the sequoia is bigger, Im not blind. But it's not THAT much bigger. At least when sitting side by side. (Compare an Explorer to a Expidition or an Excursion....)

And since Vadmis80 was stating what a monster the Sequoa is, (but without mentioning which year) I thought I would just warn him that he is getting what I precive to be a larger 4 runner then previous versions, notwithstanding actual measuerments. Thats all I was doing.

Yeah, the 5th gen 4Runner is a bit bigger than the 4th gen, just like the 4th gen was a bit bigger than the 3rd gen. But I still wouldn't compare the 5th gen 4Runner to a 2008 Sequoia in terms of size. Seriously, it's more than a foot longer! I think your comparison is right in line with the difference between the Explorer and Expedition.

But yes, unfortunately Toyota keeps making the 4Runner bigger with every generation. I wish they would go back to the 3rd gen size because I think they even went a little too big with the 4th gen.

Yea, I agree. Your getting closer to my intent. There is a BIG jump between Exploder and Expedition, or even an Excursion. Also, between a Trail Blazer (of days gone by and a Suburban) etc. etc. Although bigger, the Sequoia 2008 anyways, as compared to 4 runner was not that big of a jump, at least to me. 1 foot longer, a bit higher and just an inch or two wider. As compared to what I was used to comparing, it surprised me. Looking at a Sequoia standing alone, it does look like a monster. But put a 4 runner next to it, which I perceived as being a lot smaller, and wooo, not that much smaller. It was surprising. For me, pleasently surprising, but surprising none the less.

But like I said, I wish they would have went smaller, not bigger. If everyone keeps increasing the size of their SUVs, then soon our midsize SUVs will be the same size as the old fullsize SUVs, which is not a good thing in my opinion.

Jtraskell, I wrote about Sequoia 2010. Sequoia 2008 is very close to LC 100 (may be . longer - but just a little). Sequoia 2010 has same base as Tacoma- I knpw what people in USA like big cars , jeeps mostly- but : 1 liter of gasoline in Ukraine cost 0,95 USD, so in case of 5.7 liter motor your money will flow out like small river.... I was at salon of official dealer of Toyota- price for LC 200 start from 107 000 USD. Great? At same time GX460 cost about 96 000 USD.
By the way - where did you put order for your cars? Have you official dealers only or you have also something like CAR"S EBAY )) where you can buy chipper?
I did compare of dimension from Toyota web site, and I found out what 4Runner 2010 has length close to my LC80. I like this old car (13 years old)- it's fantastic: simple, reliable, with small fuel consumption - just 14 liters of diesel per 100 km.
I also like LC 100, but when I saw 4Runner ( at WEBsite)- I was shocking, I like these "chopped" contour of car, this brutal "face".

Some how a lot of people like the fact that the new model is bigger than old model. But I agree, eventually that model will have grown so much that it doesn't belong in that class anymore. Chances are by then they'll introduce a new model that's a lot smaller to fit that particular vehicle class. Like the current Civic, it's as big as the original Accord. So Honda has the Fit, which is probably a lot closer in size to the Civics a few generations back.

I'd imagine that would be Toyota's strategy as well. But their SUV line up is way over saturated.
