Running 33" treadwrights with Dynabeads balancing, 3" lift, no sway bars and moog LBJ's.

I check the LBJ's religiously for play, but they still make me nervous.
Also, to call the stock brakes on a 4runner "adequate" is being generous.

You gotta think, my DD is a Matrix XRS with hefty sway bars, front and back strut tower bars, fully independent suspension and Disk Brakes all around running Continental ExtremeContact tires. I've had that thing at 120mph driving silky smooth.

Getting into the rolling bouncy castle that is my 4Runner is a totally different animal. Attempting to drive it anywhere near the way I drive my Matrix would get me in deep trouble, lol. Plus, as you mentioned, driving it aggressively just gives the fuel gauge a workout.

So.. I drive my T4R like a grandpa. 65MPH is plenty fast (we have no speed limits higher than that up here anyway). I also have mean steering wobbles in the 55-65mph range. It's probably the treadwrights and dynabeads or just a combination of all the high mileage original driveline parts on this thing.

I've owned it less than a year, so I don't "know" the rig yet, but I'm sure my setup is not ideal. It's my secondary vehicle though, so it's not like I have tons of spare funds to just throw at this thing to make it perfect. I make due.

Besides, even if it did ride like it was on rails at 65+, that's just not what this vehicle inspires in me. When I get in the driver's seat, I just want to crawl through obstacles and conquer nature's paths. :p
 
My 4Runner is at home in the 60-80 mph. BUT like my truck the gas mileage starts to suck after 65.

There is only one type of CL ad worse than an overpriced 4Runner and that's someone trying to sell old wore out LBJs. Found that ad today...

I would honestly consider that if I hadn't just bought mine and were located anywhere near PA. Price with dealers is always nicely debatable as well. I bought my '03 Rav4 with 70,000 miles for 9900 including TT&L. I was able to know him down almost $2k because the rear right bumper was backed into a phone pole from the looks of it. It only costs about $100 to replace, but I still haven't gotten around to it.
