4th gen. 18" wheels on 3rd gen. 4runner?

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit the 18x7.5 6 spoke wheels that come off the 4th gen. 4runner onto a 1999 3rd gen 4runner? I have an imperial jade mica that i think would look amazing on a set of those wheels. Also, do the wheels only come in that smoked/gunmetal color? Because that is the color I want, not a plain silver like i have now.

Anyway, if you know that it does indeed fit, please let me know. And if you have any pictures/links to more info about this, let me know as well!

Yes they will fit but I think I read somewhere that the 4th gen wheels and 3rd gen wheels have different offsets, something like 15mm vs. 25mm or vice versa. So they might stick out a little further or stick in a little more, not sure which. I put the same wheels on my GX.

After doing more research, it seems like you are right. The wheels have different offsets (these wheels dont stick out from the car as much as the stock ones do).

Does anyone know if running spacers is a bad idea? Or if there are considerable disadvantages to them?

The 10mm difference is minimal, nothing that you would need spacers for. Also, the difference may be less compared to stock 3rd gen. How wide are the original wheels?

I'm not sure on the original wheel's dimensions, but I just recently came across a picture of a 3rd gen 4runner with the 18's and it did not look as good as i thought.

I think i am going to look into the 17" 5 split-spoke sequoia/tundra wheels. Anyone have any knowledge they care to share on these wheels?

The Sequoia wheels are a direct fit and almost appear like a stock 17" option on the 3rd gens and should've been.

I had them on my old 4Runner. They look great, IMO. However, tires are more expensive and the rims do tuck in a little bit more than the stock rims. You really can't tell too much, though.

You can see in this picture how much it tucks in.

Like I said, not much to even notice. They are good looking wheels. However, if I were to switch wheels on my current 4Runner, it would be for FJ80's. But I really like my 02 wheels a lot.

p nut, those wheels indeed do look great. Do you think the offset will even be noticeable? Also, where did you get your set? Only place i have found some is ebay.

i like the look of the Tundra/Sequoia wheel on the 3rd gen.

mine as she is of right now. minus the Jaos bull bar tho. wrapped with Goodyear m/t-r. thinking of getting it power coated black. oh the rear wheel has a 2" wheel spacer and front has 1.5 wheel spacer.

I got mine from a friend who has a Tundra. He was getting bigger rims, so he sold his set to me for cheap.

Just bought a set on ebay with the 265-65-17 Dunlop Gran Trek tires. Installed them tonight. I will post pics soon.

Anyone have experience with these tires?
