And it's the only 4th gen that has a rear diff lock. All 4th gens have a center locking diff.
 
I wish they did this on the earlier models before 2009. I know 2009 is the only year they offered the Trail in the 4th Gen, but it was have been nice if the Sport Edition from earlier years had this set up too or even better put it in all three models.
 
Does anyone have pictures of their center diff lock and rear diff lock switches in their TE? I'm looking to buy one and the person selling it says they have the 09 Trail, but can't produce any pictures of the locker switches.

Could someone write up a simplified tutorial on the difference / advantages of separate lockers as opposed to a center locking differential. We hear this discussed all the time and it's a very relevant subject....espcially for those of us who are dealing with mud travel. However without some context it's hard to follow.

I'll post pictures tomorrow, but--the center lock switch is on the left of the steering wheel and has a pictogram of a 4wheel system with an "x" in the center. The rear diff lock is on the console to the right of the driver and has rr dif lock on the switch. Note the Trail Edition DOES NOT have a DAC control switch, as the Trail does not have the downhill control function. the three switches on the console are 'blank', A-TRAC, and RR DIF LOCK. The Trail also came with black tubular side steps, black tubular roof rack and only "TRAIL EDITION" nameplates on the sides. It does not have 4WD or 4X4 labels on the vehicle. Inside, they came with a Tom-Tom demountable GPS built into the receiver. The grille, bumpers, and rear trim garnish are body color. I'm not sure but I think they were only available in white, silver and grey. And the seats are very distinctive--water resistant fabric and only in black.

here is the Seat fabric/color for 09 Trail Edition You can just barely make out the three console switches (Blank, A-TRAC, and RR DIF LOCK)

Other distinctive TE only features are Bilstein shocks and FJ cruiser 16" wheels. Ill see if I cant get some pics of those switches later today for you.

Interesting. This one came down the assembly line just a few vehicles before mine (per VIN number sequence). Can't tell if it has the sunroof, though.

That only makes about 8 or 9 that I know of--Does anyone know just how many TE's were actually built?
