4th gen 4.0 V6 PCV supposed to be flush?

Removed my valve to check/clean it this morning. After reinstalling it, and torquing it (20), threads are exposed. I was careful not to cross thread it (I hope) and don't recall if it was like this prior to me removing the valve. Is the hole tapered?

I replaced mine and the new one had exposed threads as well. Took a close look at the old one and it also had exposed threads. It was definitely sealed so I'm not worried about it. I connected the hose and its been running great.
