4th gen 4runner offroad picture thread.

It not only lifts your truck it also improves ride quality and wheel travel. I did mine last summer and love it. If you decide to do it I would be willing to lend a hand; I see you live in WI and we go to Wausau alot and my brother-in-law lives in Oshkosh.

Any way back to the thread this was on Fri. This road gets closed in the winter and turned into a snowmobile trail. We were out hiking and looking at waterfalls. Later we got muddy but I didn,t take any of that, oh well, maybe next time.

That looks like a fun snow covered trail ride to go for a picnic out on with the wife and kids.

How do you think the 4runner would do out in that snow and ruts without the ome lift and it's low front kmember/skidplate?

So of those clearance issue's I don't think are a problem, you just have to negociate smartly. It's nice to have lift but the bigger tire's are where most of it will come from. Then you will try to tackle even bigger rut's and need more lift and so on & on.....I was on a very rutter and big very big rocky covered hill in the snow with mine and just creeping and crawling my way up and never had a problem.

Does OME have a website or just trough the dist. website's ? I saw on someone else's website they offer a 5mm front spacer kit for the 4th gen. What does 5mm = in inches. I would like to tweek my front end slightly.

I'm getting 0.19699999999999998 inches but I'm not sure if I did it right as I have been :beer:

5mm is OME trim-pack spacer. This is an add-on to OME lift to compensate the weight of the driver. It adds to front left coil and level both side of the vehicle.

whenever your tires sink into the snow about 110% of your clearance you will high center on a skid plate or some other low point like a differential.

The OME setup should give you at least 2" of lift in the front. Just do a search in this forum for lots of threads.

As far a the mm; 1" = 25.4mm so it would be about 1/5 of an inch.

As far as the road; the snow wasn't but about 6" to a foot deep so I would have made it without the lift. It was the tires that were holding me back from getting in the deep stuff. And the fact that the road was still closed.

It was later in the mud and deep ruts that the lift was nice to have. We were on a camp road that was about 5 - 10 miles long with ruts about a foot/foot and a half + deep. We made it down and back with very little undercarrage rub but we did lock the center diff. It was really slick.

Alex, Thank's for clearing that up. I thought it would be a good front end tweek for me but I guess not.

My thought's that I did'nt get and that's why I thought I was figuring wrong becuase it was such a small amount....understand now...

here's mine in a lake near statesville nc, out fishing. although the weather was nice, nothing's really biting yet, but still a good time to teach the daughter about the wonderful outdoors. here's a pic of her learning how to skip stones.

Now I am in the process of painting my front and back emblems black pearl. Thinking of painting the grill the same color.

please keep up updated on your emblem painting. I have been thinking of different ways to get the emblems out (the toyo sign on front and back) without scratching the car. but to this day, I can't think of a good method.
