MODS: I cannot access most pages of a thread; "Forbidden" error in browser

This is for the thread nested in 4th Gen TRs, titled "What did you do with your 4Runner today?".

What did you do with your 4runner today?

I tried to go here today and the link would take me to the first page, but when I try to go to the newest page to post something, I get a big Forbidden message on the screen, followed by, "You don't have permission to access /4th-gen-t4rs/101762-what-did-you-do-your-4runner-today-2500.html on this server." I can also click on up to page 99 and view, but 100 and up is a no-no.

Is there something wrong with the thread or is it just me?

It's not you, it's a problem for everyone and not just that topic, there are several topics that are affected, the forum software is out of date with no new software to fix it, the forum owner it seems can't find a solution that he's can live with, or that can keep him from losing all the forum content.

Yeah, threads with a large amount of pages and thousands of posts re the ones affected.

A new thread on the same subject can be started.

Sadly, it's only a matter of time before the site goes down entirely.

Forum is running on "vBadvanced CMPS v3.2.2"

This version came out in 2012, which in internet terms is ... ancient history.

vBadvanced does even exist anymore, so the entire forum would have to be migrated to a modern forum system like XenForo or similar.

This site is over 10 years behind in security and modern browser functionality. This forum software was build for Windows 7.

I love this site and all the knowledge. I hope it can get migrated, but I know that is probably not possible or it would of happened by now.

Thank you to the site owner and mods for keeping it going this long. Your service to the 4runner community deserves praise. Thank you.

That's unfortunate, because the cost for the software is roughly $600 from what I can tell. Other than that you'd need someone to pull some backups, move some files, run the install, etc. I'm glossing over it but coming from my perspective as a former site administrator, it ain't hard.

It's not hard for someone with experience, but it's still time and money, which many do not have the luxury of these days.

Perhaps someone experienced can try to contact owner.

The flip side is there are two other 4runner forums which are quite a bit more active than this one and both run on current software already. So maybe the owner feels it's not worth it.

Either way, would be great if this one could stick around.

Yep, this is why I haven't chimed in or logged on in a while, it is very annoying. Hopefully it can be resolved soon. Seems as though it will take some $$ to update the forum platform, makes me wonder if members are willing to help make this happen. This is a great with TONS of info.

Toyota Nation is OK..BUT there not much activity for T4R there, nothing posted in about 10 days!
