I'm at 60,000 miles and was just wondering what kinds of thinks are necessary in a 60,000 tune up? I have never exactly had to do one before and I am later today so I was just wondering the essentials of what I need to do. Thanks so much!

Are you doing this yourself or are you paying someone else to do it?

If you are doing it yourself, short list I would look at would be
-plugs
-cabin air filter
-intake air filter
-lube driveshaft and spider yoke zircs
-switch diff fluid, transfer fluids to synthetic ( good for 100k )
-Oil change (again I like synthetic )

Of course look over all of your other fluids for levels and check your battery voltage....

I am sure I am forgetting some items, but these are my priorities when I check my runner periodically.

There are some threads on here for items that may be unfamiliar to you, most are very helpful w/ pictures and all.

Yes, and at 60k I'd highly recommend knocking out axle, t-case and trans fluid.

Trans fluid? You talking transmission or you mean the Transfer case fluids? For the fluids I would do all 3 underneath and go to all synthetics ( F + R diff, plus Transfer Case )

I thought the transmission fluid on the 4th gen was a sealed system, w/ no maintenance. ?

Trans fluid? Yes. You talking transmission or you mean the Transfer case fluids? I "sloppily" referred to the Transfer Case as the t-case. My bad. For the fluids I would do all 3 underneath and go to all synthetics ( F + R diff, plus Transfer Case ) :iagree:100%

I thought the transmission fluid on the 4th gen was a sealed system, w/ no maintenance. ? Not sealed. Stupid fill/level check methodology, that's all. Toyota recommends servicing based on 'inspection' (whatever that means) OR if you tow they say 60k. IMHO if you city drive, tow, 4wheel etc it's worth doing at 60k. The 2 links below will shed more light.

Thanks, time to do some reading up on those.....Both of my runners are around 60K and all I have done is check the fluids but not serviced them.

So for the OP, how is the tune up going??
