4th Gen 8 Cylinder Resale Prices

Been out of the loop for a while (3 kids under 3 will do that).
Have 4runner8 cylinder( VTech) resale values gone up, since the '10 models been out?

My wife want's me to trade in my 05 4WD V8 for a new Honda minivan(sacrilege)
They're offering more for my SRX, than Edmunds's says I should get.
The Honda itself, is $300 over invoice (Costco deal).
Other than losing MY 4Runner, is that an OK deal ?

I sold my Sequoia and bought a Honda.My neighbor works for a honda dealer,so I purchased wholesale.After 2 months of driving it,i couldn't stand to look at it.I don't know what it was,it was a very nice "car".So I sold it and bought a 4Runner.I will never go back to Honda again.My son drives an 06 Acura TL,very nice car,that's why I thought going with a honda would be a good idea.Make sure you know what you are getting into,rent one for a couple of weeks before you buy.Don't make a costly mistake.

i certainly hope your 4runner doesnt have v-tech.

demand for 4wd will increase as we approach the snowy months.

In my experience shopping around a month ago, V8 4 Runners from the 04-06 vintage with 40k-80k on the odometer actually sell for LESS than V6s.

Personally, I think it comes down to three issues:

- Fuel economy. The V8 doesn't offer significantly less MPG than the V6, but most people look at the numbers and don't see a huge power increase.

- Long term maintenance/reliability. I think most folks buying 4th Gens are, like me, looking for a rig to run into the ground with 250k+ someday. The V6 offers a timing chain and the prospect of less maintenance down the road. The market prices accordingly.

- Xreas. All the V8s I looked at had the xreas suspension. Savvy buyers are pricing those down as they know that they are looking at a high chance of a big $$$ repair within the next 50k miles or so when the xreas shocks die.

Look at your shocks, do you have a hydraulic line coming off of them? If not then you don't have XREAS.

I test drove a Sienna today. It drives more like a boat than a car.
The 4Runner drives much better, and it's a truck !
