4th Gen backup camera not working

Sorry everyone.... I have searched and cannot find exactly what I'm looking for...

Just purchased 4th Gen with Nav. Backup camera doesn't work (black screen). Camera not dirty.

Is the first route I should take just to replace the camera? If so, is there an aftermarket with same connectors for plug-play without rewiring? OEM is $400+

Is there something I should check before replacing?

Not too familiar with troubleshooting OEM nav head units so I'm not too helpful in this case. However definitely do not buy another OEM camera if it's priced that much. Have you tried troubleshooting i.e. checking for loose connections?

This is my current setup as far as head unit / camera goes...

Pioneer z110bt NAV with rear camera that can be configured to run at all times and/OR in reverse mode only.

This is the updated model of the same camera I have - it is durable and does not stand out at all. Do note this camera is NOT my current one - I have an older generation of the same camera since my head unit was produced in '09. Should work for your OEM Nav. too as it is an universal part that can be installed on any system

However I took my 4Runner to an audio shop for them to replace stock with Pioneer head unit and had them install the camera that came with the Pioneer. If you're not savvy with audio installation - maybe it is best to take it to a shop and have them troubleshoot. It should not take more than 30-45 mins considering your system is stock only. If they do not find anything, they'll either charge you minimum labor for troubleshooting or not charge you anything since it was a quick troubleshooting session

Check my signature for a little bit of information, but most aftermarket cameras are 12v and the stock one is 6 volts.

Keep that in mind.

I have this one and 2 things, led works great but looks awkward if you don't change the other plate light to match. and 2nd but most important the lens is plastic and fogged over pretty quick. camera still works but making out anything other than shapes forget it after the lens fogs over. So I'm on the hunt for a new one with hopefully IR for night and glass lens so it wont sun fade.
