4th Gen. But what year?

Hey guys just looking for a little help here. I own a 3rd gen, maybe thinking about going to a 4th gen. Any differences in exterior throughout the years 03 - 08? Even minor changes would be good to know. Thanks for helping.


And.. if you're really good, could you tell me what year this 4R might be?

You should definitely get an 06-08 4Runner, why you ask? Projector headlights, LED tails, rear bumper has no reflectors in it, better looking front bumper and grille (in my opinion).

The 4Runner you posted is a 06-08 4Runner.

and fo sheezy is right that is an 06-08 4runner... projector headlights, chrome-ish grill, wider side mouldings, different bumper design, those are some of the major changes from the 03-05 and 06-08...

imo i like the look of the older 03-05 4th gens... but that could be cuz i own an 04... so i may be a bit biased... btw i made the upgrade from a 3rd gen to a 4th gen and could not be MORE HAPPY with the upgrade... the 4th gen is SOOOOOOOO much more powerful and refined at the same time, but not too refined of course...

Yeah I couldn't be happier with the switch, there's no comparison at all..

Be careful in the year because the picture looks like a model from Japan with right drive and I don't know when they changed the fenders or other changes in the models brought out in Japan as often they are a year ahead.

However...it looks like a SR5 V6 w/ painted mirrors, door handles & rear garnish on the tailgate.

They kept the front chrome grill.

Just an FYI if it happens to matter to you. Body overhang was increased front and back starting in '06. It's a little easier to stay out of harms way, offroad, in an '03 thru '05. Something changed under the doors, too, though I don't know what. All I know is that Hanna Quality sliders won't fit on an '06 and up. I don't know whether that means a difference in rocker panel clearance or not.

I'd suggest an '08.SR5 no spoiler, no roof racks and customize it the way you want. 08's have a VSC off switch RSCA is standard and switchable as well.
