4th Gen Cargo Tray

I have a 2004 that has the cargo tray option by the way the cargo area is but have never actually seen one. Did they ever actually make the cargo tray or was it an idea that was scrapped? I see they made tray's for the 5th Gen. I looked all over this site and the only thing I found was the liner/mat but no one else has the actual tray either. The only cargo tray's online say they are for 2010-2011. I am believing to think they made the cutout for the tray in the back but never made the tray.

The 5th gen has a tray that slides out. The 4th gen has a double deck system.

Not sure if this helps or answers your question. On Gen 4's the cargo shelf was an option. WeatherTech makes cargo liners for both the shelf and non-shelf version.

Has anyone made a mod on the 4th gen to add a cargo tray like the 5th gen. Or even sturdy enough to be used as a tailgate for sitting?

Haven't seen the mod to make a try like the 5th gen yet.....only the double decker system installed or removed. Using the WeatherTech cargo mat is a great investment and well worth the money. Husky also makes them too.
