4th gen clicking/grinding sound

If backing up a hill and the truck rolls forward a little after letting off the brake I'm getting a strange clicking/grinding sound. I waould say it's coming from the front of the truck maybe tranny or center diff, hard to tell as I have only felt this twice. I don't think this truck should do this. My street is all tore up do to sewer being installed and all I did was back into a rut and the truck rolled forward a tiny bit before I got out of reverse. Anyone else ever feel this.

i heard had this sound once from backing a boat into the water(friend driving my car). when putting it into drive it clanks abit (sounds like gears slippin or catching), from what i hear its just down hill assist so ur car doesnt roll backwards, i usually hold the brakes and give gas like a clutch so the car doesnt roll backwards.

DAC has to be engaged, and the truck has to be in 4Lo. Also I'm pretty sure if you press the brake pedal, it shuts off. Maybe ATRAC, trying to get traction to a wheel that was slipping...but then VSC might start buzzing? I dunno.

Nah... There's another acronym, HAC. Any time the vehicle is stopped, the brake is released AND the vehicle begins to roll in the oppisite direction of the gear selection (rolls backwards while in a fwd gear) the brakes activate to prevent undesired rolling. For us it's a gee-whiz feature of little real value. If you had a stick-shift FJC you'd love it.

Thanks for replys. Was just odd because I never heard it before. I wonder if it is unique to reverse or if i face the truck up hill while in D and allow it to roll back a little if it will make the same noise. I have to have been in this situation before while sitting at a stop light or something and don't remember anything odd.

I have to have been in this situation before while sitting at a stop light or something and don't remember anything odd.You need to try it on a steeper hill
