4th Gen factory alarm problem

I've got an '06 SE that I took into the dealer recently. I'm having two issues.

The first issue is the alarm/keyless entry. When I lock it I get a beep, long pause, beep. As far as I can remember I used to only get one beep. From other cars I've had this usually means a door isn't latched or a window is rolled down. I've checked all the doors and windows and they are all fully rolled up and shut and the doors actually lock.

The dealer said it wasn't a warranty issue and that it would be $50 to change the programming.

I'm just looking for confirmation that when arming/locking the car from factory you get a single beep.

I have to wave the BS flag here, this DOES sound like a warranty issue. You should get one beep when you lock it and two when you unlock it. If a door is open and you try to lock it you should get a lock solid beep. Please do not pay them $50 to fix something that is covered under warranty. Unless of course this is an aftermarket keyless entry you installed.

Good luck!

Nope its the factory system. Thanks for the confirmation. Yeah I plan to go back to the service manager but I wanted to get a little confirmation first.

How long is the pause?

Normally if you unlock it with the remote, but then don't open a door within 30 seconds, the computer will automatically re-lock the doors and beep.

That's how many people find their car magically locked inside the garage - they accidentally hit a button on the remote while in the house, and then this auto-lock kicks in after 30 seconds.

ProMed is right - the system doesn't think something is ajar. It would make a long, solid noise in that case.

Its like a 2-3 second pause. Longer than the double beep of unlock but way under 30 seconds.

Thanks everyone for the input. Time to go back to the dealer.
