4th Gen gas door 'broken'- won't open.

I have an 03 and the Gas door wouldn't open.. kinda suks when you running on vapors and you can't fill up the tank. I suppose pushing the truck down the highway would save alot of $$$$.
I saw the door would move when I yanked on the latch.. so the cable was working. Some gal (cute too) opened my door with her credit card while I pulled on the latch and she got it opened. I can't tell if the spring is broken or the the door is out of wack... anyone have the same problem and know the fix????

Happened to me once... There's a little tab near the hinge that basically pushes the door out when you pull the release. That tab needs to be bent out a little bit to apply more pressure to the door so it will 'pop' when you pull the release lever.

Same Problem

Hey I've got the same thing on my 99. Gonna try to find a spring of some sort to stick in there to push the door open when I pull the lever.

I always have to find a helper at the pump.

I have this problem on my 2007 4Runner. I'm going to the dealership in the morning to get it fixed. I'll post more tomorrow on the steps/measures they take to correct the malfunction.

This just happened to me today. The clip is broken, but I have the spring. I removed the clip and hoping my Dealer has the plastic piece. It is easy to get off and on, but I would hate to have to buy an entire new filler lif for .10¢ piece of plastic. What did the dealer charge you?

I had this happen to my last vehicle, where I either had to jimmy it or tap it while hitting the release switch... until I sprayed a little Eezox (though WD40 will work I'm sure) into the hinges for the door after which it worked like new~ hope that helps!
