thanks R8RRunner...i searched for every other word but "cluster".

i think buying a second kit and trying it there is a must. i appreciate it!

thanks R8RRunner...

triguy74 - Let me know if i can help in any way. Just to let you know, there are 3 things i haven't gotten to that are not on the thread:

4x4 selector - not sure what the V8 one looks like but depending on where the LED is you'll get a hot spot. I need to drill into the distribution lens and mount another LED.

Airbag indicator - the LED is crazy tiny and need to find a way to remove it since it's not easily accessible.

Gear selector - the LED's i used (Flat tops) doesn't throw enough light to light up the gears as bright as the switches. I might have to create a strip with an LED for each gear.

My next project is swapping over to the Limited cluster (i love the red dot!!). Post pics when you're done, i'd love to see it!!

Good luck!!!

I'm not sure what the other clusters look like, but it's just the light shining through the odometer needle. I think all you would have to do is get a new needle.

*edit* after reading your write-up and seeing your gauges, it might not be a simple needle swap. Nice how-to. I am nowhere near the level to pull this one off by myself, but the paps may be able to swing it. Thanks for taking the time to show how it's done!

No problem guys!

This is one that I am comfortable doing and on sometime in the future.
Personally, I want to do it on good parts pulled from a wrecked rig just in case I mess something up.

The lighting pattern on the limited seem to be a bit different with the sport's. the sport's cluster is lit by 3 LED's next to the needle shaft and distributes the light using a lens. I'm hoping to get my hands on a limited gauge and confirm that it has 3 Red LED's lighting up the needle and a series of 4-6 orange LED's lighting up the gauge face.

Hey triguy74~ when you do this, could you take pictures of the back of the cluster. on another thread we are trying to confirm that it's a easy swap. oh, and you probably want to buy a few extra LED's since you might need more than i did. thanks!!
