Anymore pics of the vinyl?

I know that we are all rediscovering this. But I'm jealous of the vinyl. I'd like to know more about how its doing, how you did it and what was the cost.

For the vinyl floor liner, I had not found any posts on here where this had been done and couldn't find anywhere online that offered a vinyl carpet replacement for 4th gens......at first glance. I called Auto Custom Carpets (accmats.com) to see if they could be made as a special order since they were not offered in the product list for the vehicle. The lady I spoke to advised they were listed under "other" products, since the vehicle is an SUV and the material only covered the passenger area (not the cargo area). They have since updated their website to include vinyl as an option.

I have to say I was happy to find a manufactured alternative to carpet and this is some really thick and durable stuff, but I was a little disappointed in the level of contour stamped into the liner. The location of the impressions in the vinyl matched the floorpan well, but the depth was just not there. Nonetheless, it does its job and I'm happy with it overall.

This is amazing, honestly I'd love to learn more about the whole process as this is like I dropped in on a guide to exactly what I wanted to do.

How is the vinyl holding up all this time later? I love the look and idea, but the depth being 'just not there' just makes me a little nervous it'll eventually look like you're riding in a glad trash bag. How do you stick it/hold it down?

Do you think reinsulation is a requirement or did you just want sound dampening?

Once you got done with the vinyl, did you just reinstall all the oem seats and take it to the katzkin installer?

Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident not long after my post back in 2016 and my beloved 4Runner was totalled. However, to answer your question, I was very pleased with the vinyl. It was really thick and durable. I would totally do it all over again, but would be a little more careful with my cuts for areas like the center console that required cutouts. There were some areas at the base of the rear seats that didn't quite lay flat against the floor, as you can see in the pics, but nothing that really bothered me. For those areas I was told a heat gun would help, but it wasn't a big enough deal to me to worry about it. After I finished the vinyl, I reinstalled the OEM seats and had the Katzkin dealer do the rest. I will say the end result of everything I did completely changed the feel of the interior. The insulation was just for sound dampening and made a huge difference.
