4th Gen Non-JBL Dash Kit

Has anyone tried this dash kit in a 4th gen 4-Runner? The kit looks like it will address the gaps at the top and bottom of the radio when using the standard Metra kit (2 side filler pieces) in a non-JBL 4-Runner. I suspect that I may have the modify the support frame on the side of the bracket, but I'd be willing to do so if the finished product looks better than the Metra kit.

DASH KIT

I got one of those metra kits for free when I ordered my nav from crutchfield, and it was terrible. The texture of the plastic was different and didn't even cover all the sides.

I understand PAC has a new dash kit that matches the plastic and cover all, have not seen it yet!!

I went to my Toyota dealer and ordered the dash bezel for the Urban Runner, while still using the factory radio bracket. I just drilled new alignment holes in the braket. It took some manipulating, but looks factory.

I went ahead and ordered the Scosche kit from Crutchfield for the FJ Cruiser - I hope to receive it before the weekend. I will post an update later as to how it works out.

Eagerly awaiting your review, salsa06. I want an OEM-looking dash kit for my touchscreen. I've never been impressed with Metra kits.

For those interested, the FJ dash kit is a no-go. The dash kit fits nicely into the opening width and height, but does not fit around the radio very well. For some reason there is a 1/4" gap on the side of the radio, between the radio face and the dash kit. It does't really make sense to me that the FJ users wouldn't be complaning about this but I never really checked into the topic on any of the FJ sites...it may already be an issue.

Regardless, my serach continues for a better dask kit of the non-JBL Gen 4.

Please share any other suggestions.

I would definitely recommend the scosche kit. Fits much better than the metra kit and apears to sit "in" the openings as opposed to on top. The only bad part is that its very tought to find
