4th Gen OME question - 884 vs 885

I know there are a lot of thread about lifts, but I can't find any clear answers.

I have a 2003 SR5 V8 and am thinking about an OME lift.
Specifically the 895/141 in the rear and either the 884 or 885 and 140S in the front.

I have seen many pics of people with the v8 and 885/895 combo and others with the v6 and 884/895 combo.
Those 4Runner LOOK level.

I do occassionally load my 4Runner up with firewood and haul it to my family a couple hours away. With a full load of firewood and the factory suspension my 4R is almost level.
I'm concerned that if I get the 885/895 then my rear end would be lower than the front with a full load.

For those of you who have the V8 and 884 springs in the front:
  • What is your rake like?
  • What is your lift front vs rear?
  • Do you have any pictures?

For those of you with the V8 and 885/895, are your 4Runners actually level, or are the frames higher in the front giving the appearance that the entire vehicle is level?
The body of the 4th gens are wedge shaped and I'm also concerned that while the pics looks good and level, the trucks may actually be higher in the front with that setup.

Thanks for the input.

Hello!

I don't think there are many people who have put the 884's on.
I was hoping other here would chime in, but like the other forum site, sorry to say...it's just me!

Good luck, I think what you had said in the other thread that is going to work for you.

I would get the 885/895, I have a v6 and i'm running 885s, An 884 on a v8 would give you about a factory rake look, 885 will still give you a rake just not as much. 885s are same spring rate, just 10mm longer that will only give you maby 1/2 inch extra. I have asked the same question on both forums also, Its hard to get a straight answer i know, but remember that springs will settle and you will loose alittle height. I would call BEN at SLEE OFF ROAD. (888) 494-7533. He knows more than anyone about OME. On a v8 i would get 885.

I also have an 2003 V8 (Limited) and was thinking of OME full kit without spacer and running 884's and 895E. I believe this would achieve a 2" total lift and wouldnt need to then replace UCA's?

I would definitely go with the 885's in the front if you have the V8. That's what I have on my '07 with the V8 and think it looks perfect.

You end up getting about a 3" lift in the front and about 2" in the rear. So the OME will level your 4Runner but still maintain a little bit of a rake. That way if you're towing or have your 4Runner loaded down in the rear, it won't sag in the rear. The rear OME springs are pretty stiff so it would take a lot of weight in the rear to get them to sag.

Also, you don't need to replace the UCA's, but I would recommend it. The factory UCA's won't allow you to get the alignment into factory specs, but you can get close. Plus, you might run into clearance issues with the UCA's hitting the spring at full extension if you do any serious off-roading.

In the last month I put an OME kit on mine. 884/895E on 06 w/V6. Measuring hub to wheel well I was level but I was very noticeably nose high. Swapped out the 884 for 883s after talking with ARB/OME folks. I lost an inch in the front and now have subtle rake. The V8 might negate the issues I had but going that route I would still recommend the 895 in the rear. Personally I wanted things a bit lower, hence dropping the front. My observation 884s gave me about 3.5-4" up front, the 883 gave me about 3". I forgot to measure but I based that off what other 06 V6 had reported as stock. Rear was right about 2-2.5" (still settling)
