4th Gen owner with 3rd Gen question

Guys,

i currently have a 2003 T4R Sport V8 that my wife hauls our two children in. I am finally getting rid of the car that I got from the wife when we got married, a 2000 Honda Civic. I have been looking for about a month now and have a timing belt question. One truck in particular looks very clean but has no evidence of the TB being changed. its a 2000 Sport with 116K on it. Its down in Columbus OH and I am in Erie PA so I cant just drop by and check it. My question is..... should I be concerned, or should I just buy it and have in change ASAP. Thanks for the input.

It shouldn't be a deal breaker as long as the seller will drop the price. I woould be more worried about the water pump than the TB, but for ~$600 you can get those replaced or $300 and do it yourself. Just check for severe rust damage since you are in the rust states.

Go for it. It is time to change it for sure, but some people go way longer than 116k without changing it. I wouldn't worry at all.

The 3.4L is non-interference, so even if it does break (which I doubt it will), you will just have to get a tow, not a new engine.

Don't let it keep you from buying it. Change it along with the water pump soon but don't let it be a deal breaker. Obviously don't let the seller know that though.

Looks pretty clean. Roof basket too, bonus. If it's rust free and a clean Carfax it seems to be priced well.
