4th gen Plug and Play headlight bulbs

Done and WOW...BIG difference especially with the high beams as I have been running the original high beams since 2004 from when I drove her off the lot! Lows had been replaced once.

20 minutes for all 4 bulbs. Since I have reflectors and I don't use my T4R as a daily driver 66 bucks for some Sylvania 9005 and 9006 for better night time vision was the perfect choice. Next will be to replace the original 2004 fog lights with some (9006) too! But, do I crazy and get yellow...hmmmm.

They work really well in the high beams. MUCH brighter than the stock bulbs. hair more white than I would have wanted, but nice for the brights. I have only had them for about a month and only have needed to use them a few times.

That's great to hear. I assume you experienced no issue installing them?

No issues! It is like installing the normal bulbs, but with the ballast between.

Well, since this thread is about all 4th gens, I'll include bulbs for both with and without the projectors.
With the projectors, you want to stay away from LEDs. They have yet to design LED lights that emit an even radiant light which is what you NEED for projectors to work the way they're designed.
For you headlights without projectors, you can run LEDs or incandescents.. both are fine and will put out light evenly...ish
LEDs in the high beams would be fine since they're not projectors.
For the projectors, go to oreillys and grab the bulbs off the top shelf. They're Sylvanias and they're an excellent bulb. They're in a clear, hard plastic case.
For the fogs, you could do the same thing.

This isn't how I'd go about getting lights, but you said no retrofitting HIDs so there ya go.

is this still true about led bulbs not being suitable for projector assy?..i have the spec d halo projector hl assy, and am thinking of throwing in led bulbs in them...but your post got me confused

I have had Silverstars in my fogs and high beams in my last 2 trucks, I love them. If you do get them, get the ultras

They work great and give plenty of light. My bigger issue is lenses are getting pretty beat up again. I'll purchase again when necessary.

I got led bulbs from China. They give tremendous amount of light and it's not as bad as hid type bulbs. They have a shade line just like regular halogens. I can take a picture at night if anyone wants to compare with their stock bulbs

I just dropped the 9006 LED replacements from SEAlight S1 series for the lows and the 9005 version for the highs into my 2005. $40 for a set of LEDs that throw out a huge amount of ultra white light. They do appear to lose some control out of the headlight on lows. I can see a lot wider, farther and uh, higher... which may mean I've lost some targeting towards the ground and may get some people flashing their brights at me thinking mine are on, when they're not. Anyone else have experience with the LEDs in a 2005 model?

Ok, finishing up my search and another thread answered my question. Can't use the LEDs in reflector type housings as they throw the light all over the place... that is what see. Darn.

I'm glad you see the "light". Its the same problem with HID's in reflector housings. It can't control the light output and just shoots glare everywhere.

Thank you for not running your LEDs.

Look into the HIR (9012 and 9011) bulb mod. I did it to our 2011 Rav4 with projector headlights. Just requires trimming the bulb mount a bit to fit into the headlight housing. Brighter than the 9006 I pulled out, but not HID/LED glaring.

Those are exactly what I purchased, but are throwing the light all over the place. How did you get them tamed down? Did you swap to projector lights?
