4th gen rear wiper adapter for using non OEM wiper blades

I saw this adapter being used in the 3rd gen 4runner section and thinking it should work for my 4th gen as well. Has anyone gone this route?

If it doesn't work you can always return it.

I don't know why you would want to use something other than an OEM wiper arm. I just get replacement blades for my 2004 4Runner. They aren't very expensive and they last a long time.

In 2020 I replaced the rear wiper arm because the plastic was getting dried out from the sun. I replaced the blade also

I like the idea of using a genetic blade found everywhere USA vs Toyota only. Wiper blades are consumable items to me and they should be generic items, IMO.

When you go to any store that sells wipers, you open up their wiper catalog to find your vehicle/make/model/etc. The rear wipers for the entire 4th gen isn't listed because of this OEMcentric weirdness. Hence my reasoning for turning this into a generic wiper of xx inches, which I haven't measured yet but probably 13" or so, if I were to guess.

I agree, that's why I use Bosch on the front. The rear doesn't get much use and Toyota dealerships are everywhere, many of them on Amazon. But if you're going to the local store you may have a problem finding what you want.

For me, I like the benefit of the Amazon reviews. It lets you know others experience with a product. Buying automotive products in the big box stores or corner auto supply places. I've tried Rain-X, which is good, but Bosch seems to work better, at least for me. YMMV

I agree with your points, they're good ones. When it comes to consumables for my rides, I go with the least expensive options. However, when it comes to critical parts, it's OEM all the way and I'll happily bend myself over.

I'll buy cheap Costco/Walmart motor oil/ATF, batteries, etc but go with quality oil filter. Same goes for wiper blades, cheapest Walmart blades that'll get tossed a year later. Here in the Southwest, UV damage is more prevalent on wipers vs actual usage

Just a philosophy that I've adopted and has been working well for my needs.
