4th gen side mirror removal

Hello!

Has anyone out there removed their 4th gen side mirrors? I have the black SR5 mirrors and would like to remove them to get them painted to match my truck... (I know they could mask them off, just asking)

No clue as to how these come off. Do I just pop off the triangular trim piece on the inside of the door and start from there or do I have to remove the entire door panel?

Yes they come off. IIRC, you need to remove the door interior panels to get them off.

Search around for threads about adding turn signal arrows to the mirrors and/or heated mirrors. One or the other (or both) had instructionsa about getting the mirrors off. Also, there are a few posts around about removing the door panels (speaker upgrades).

Well, that just takes the guess work out of it all. Has anyone done this, and if so, what would you say the backyard mechanic rating 1-5. 5 being a pain in the butt.

Hey thanks for the link and the info.. Just need to work up the balls to rip off the door panel of a brand new truck now..
