Has anyone used the toyota japan interior lighting kit from Carson? The green lighting in the footwells. What kind of lights do they use? Any other good footwell lighting ideas? Thanks

I was wanting them for my 4runner but i just didnt want green. My wifes 06 Vue Redline come from the factory with the lights under the seats. With hers at the center console there is two switches one for the passenger side and one for the drivers side lights where you can change the from blue to amber. I did find some interior light on ebay that I am think of getting for the 4runner here is the link Interior Neons .

I just installed footwell lights in mine. Use the instructions here for wiring. With these instructions, you wire into the circuit for the light around the ignition switch, so it works with the interior lights.

The lights I installed were $3 each from Autozone -- a simple incandescent light using a bayonet bulb. The one on the drivers side I zip tied to the bracket just above the brake pedal. On the passenger side, simply screwed it into the back of the plastic trim (drilled a hole for the wires first.

Could not find a good place under the front seats to place a light, so I dropped the idea.

You could buy these neons at your local auto parts store. Just wire into your lighter or other stable constant 12v source, create a switch and ::poof:: you have floor lights.

Better yet the easiest route would be to find a good mounting place in the footwell area for the neon light bars, run and hide the wiring under the center console, purchase the extra (second) cigarette lighter plug console, wire on yourself a cigarette plug end and plug them in whenever you want light or to impress your friends.

Then you would be "moving forward" with footwell lights in your Toyota.

I saw the neons at the autostore and some leds that might work. They were from $10 - $20 so I may just try them both and see which one works better. Wiring to the ingnition switch sounds like it will do what I want. Now I just need some time to get'r done!
