4th gen T4R need LIFT KIT

need i lift kit for my new T4R 2005 limited 4WD V6. i need something that i can go offroading in like a 3" lift or a 4" lift (revtek or cornfed or something) and slap some BFG km2's or some sort of offroad tire. pleeease help. what's best, from experience???

if you want want that much lift for offroading, get some adjustable coilovers so you can set the front where you want/need it. dont try & go with spacers on that much lift. (if you run 285s , youll need that much)
 
well really i made it sound bigger than what i want it to be. i mean why do most lifts for 4runner have a bigger size in the front than in the back?

but is like a 3"frnt/2"bck lift big enough for 35" tires?

because the front sits 2 & 3/4 in. lower than the rear. like i said, 285s are about 33s depending on brand. you would still need at a 2-3 lift up front to run 32s (275)for 4 wheeling & you probably will have to move (forward)or trim the inner fenders or mud flap. if your not going offroad, you can get away with less. (maybe no trimming)

For 285/70's a Daystar 2.5/1.5 or Corfed 3/2 with some trimming and wheelspacers. (The Daystar over-delivers a bit in the height.) The SpiderTrax wheelspacers help to eliminate the controll arm rubbing when the wheel is cut.

The OE stance of the 4Runner is very nose low. By lifting the front 1" more than the back you retain a raked, good look but you loose the extreme nose low stance. Stock 4th gen 4Runners, when sitting still, look like they are in the midst of a panic stop...

MTs & ATs even in the same size/brand, will have different fitment. in my opinion, youll need more clearence with the MT (knobby) tires since youre going offroad, but then again, it depends on HOW you will drive - easy or rough- you no doubt will bottom out at times. where you gonna put the spare? not sure if 285 will fit stock location.

i wonder how well the IFS would hold up offroading with the 35s? (seems like thats kind of what hes aiming for) alignment aside, depending on the vec, some IFS break with tires that large. its something to think about.
 
so could you agree that a 3"/2" lift would give enough room for say a 265/75 or a 255/70 M/T? given that i might need to take the mud flaps off or other trims.

Most report a gain of greater than 2.5" in the front.

Several members have used the BFG Mud Terrains in the 255/75/17 size with very good results. Because they are a bit narrower rubbing is far less of an issue. Because they are lighter the ride, braking etc is better than a heavier tire. They are also a full 32"+ and provide good clearance.

When my OE's wear out I'll go with that size, probably the Goodyear SA's.

I would consider the completely assembled toytec kit with adjustable 5100's. it's a solid 3" plus of lift up front....about $850 or so; bolt on in a few hours. Lots of 255-75-17 BFG MT on craigslist as they are take off on the newer rubicons. I have this combo and am PLEASED with the ride and look!

Old man emu 887 springs w/ bilstein 5160 fronts and 5165 with piggy back rear shocks. The old man emu alone with its shocks will give you 2.5-3 " but the bilstein shocks have a taller seat for the spring which means much more lift , my truck is almost 5.5" taller + rims and tires . I'm running 18 x12 " rims and 315 70 BFg's = 34" . You will need a diff drop!
