4th Gen, the manual

I have been interested in getting a manual for my 2004. T4R
neither Chilton or Haynes seem to cover 4th Gen.

What do you guys use ?

Hey rwilson,

Yes, Haynes and Chilton have not done us T4R owners any favours by not producing a service manual to cover the 2003 and newer 4Runners.

I ended up buying a set of the factory authorized Toyota Repair Manuals off of eBay. A lot more money than your typical Chilton/Haynes, but I plan on keeping this ride for a while.

I second that, the closest thing out there is Taco/4R/LC '98-'02 or '03 (I can't remember). This MIGHT be close enough for basic repairs, but nothing that could be relied on.

Bossman, how much did you pay on eBay? I checked my local stealership and they wanted $176 for book one and $228 for book two - that was a little steep for my purposes (now). Just curious to see what else might be out there?

No way I pay a dealership that kind of cash!

I paid just over $100 US plus shipping back in June 2008 for the set of Volume 1 and 2 Toyota 4Runner (2003) Repair Manuals.

I am still searching eBay for the Supplement and Electrical Wiring Diagrams manuals.

I found an online repair manual for my 06 v8 at Alldatadiy.com. The only thing is you have to sign up for a one year subscription for $16.95 or a 5 year for 29.95, but thats better than getting fleeced by the stealer

I just downloaded the 2006 manual and found it pretty complete although it is hard to find the references from one section to another.
I purchased a shop manual CD from E-Bay some months ago for a 2007 after looking for months.
The price was certainly right. I am surprised you found it available for free.

Yeah, a big thanks to the OP on the other site for that one.....Even though I've got a 2007, I'm sure I will not find any significant differences from the 06.
