4th Gen Tires / Moonroof

1. I've never really put much thought into tires - until recently. On our 2006 Limited, we have BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail tires. I also do a lot of driving in adverse conditions such as 3+ feet of snow and a lot of off roading and rock crawling. I am wondering if anyone has any comments or opinions of these tires because I would like to know more about how people think they perform in snow and off the pavement. How prone are they to side blowouts? Thank you so much!


2. Our truck was destroyed by softball sized hail in June and we got a new roof. Since it's been back, whenever it's rained, water has come pouring through the moonroof when it's completely closed. I've tried adjusting the position with the button many times but it just doesn't seal very well. How can I correct this? Thank you all so much!

1) I'd look into some AT tires vs. all season. I've had good experiences with Bridgestone Revos but also with Firestone Destination AT's which were just as good and much less expensive.

2) Take the T4R back to the shop that did the work. It sounds like they missed a seal and/or need to make some adjustment that the average owner can't do himself.

1) I can't speak for the BFG Long Trails, other than to say they don't look all that impressive to me. With the small voids, I can't see how they'd be useful offroad at all other than graded dirt roads. I just put a set of Goodyear Duratracs on my Jeep JK. So far I am very impressed. They are technically an A/T, but have bigger voids in the center tread pattern, and slightly offset shoulder lugs. I don't find them any louder than the Goodyear Silent Armours I have on my 4Runner (ie. very quiet, not noticeable at all). I've only done a short trail with them so far, and they worked great, but I really didn't test them hard. I have no experience in the snow yet, but from everything I've read, they ought to be friggin awesome (lots of siping)

2) yup, take it back. you shouldn't have to live with someone else's mistake like that.
