Ok so i own a 2003 SE v6 2wd. Moving to an area with a good deal more weather/some snow (from so cal). I want to get into a 4wd and am thinking about moving to a 3rd gen 4wd with the elocker, Id like to eventually turn her into a nice wheeling rig (would be my first build of this kind)...any thoughts? Thanks all!

Why not get a 4th gen 4wd? If you make sure the 4wd actuators work before you buy, the 4th gen in general has a better 4wd system (with the exception of the locker) and is more useful in day to day crappy weather on road driving. You can always add a locker to a 4th gen if you absolutely need it but the better engine, bigger and nicer interior, and overall better driving experience (IMO) make the 4th gen a better choice. I had a 2wd 3rd gen and briefly considered 'upgrading' to a 3rd gen 4wd but determined it wasnt really an upgrade and my money was better spent on a newer, better equipped 4th gen. My .02

that was my other thought...

I was looking into this option as well...but wasn't sure if the locker was that crucial. I do sooo love my 4th gen...Thanks for the info, now im really confused!
