nope but i believe there is someone that has tried and said it works with a bit of modifications.

i personally have not done this as my tc sits up above the frame rails. i also have not hit it yet so hopefully it'll stay that way :)
 
As far as I can see it's just bolts on to the TC, so there is no defense against impact. I don't think it's the best solution. It should be better then stock, but not as TC skid should be.

I think that the picture I grabbed from the web site is of a Tacoma''s transfer case. The 4Runners have a larger 4WD actuator.

The 4Runner's OEM plate also bolts onto the TC and if you look underneath a 4th Gen you'll see it is minimal. The pictured design is a lot thicker and has those "ramps" to help fend things off.

If we talk about large impacts you'll need something a lot thicker that goes all the way across the frame rails. I don't have the facilities to fab something like that. It may have been Goodtimes that fabbed a larger skid plate? It may have stopped short of the TC.

If I can get a reasonably priced increase in protection rather than stick with the stock plate then I'll go with it. I am waiting on an answer from the vendor as to availability.
 
The skid I'm working on will not protect the TC unfortunately. The problem that I have is the location of the tc in conjunction with the gas tank. For the v8 the separation is only 1-2" which means I really don't have a lot of room for the rear support past the TC w/o hitting the gas tank.

Since the tc sits higher above the frame rails this has not been an issue for me. Not sure how the setup is for the v6 but I'll see if I can fab something up once I get the v8 skid done.

I looked at mine and the TC hangs maybe 2" below the bottom of the frame rails. The exhaust system's crossover pipe is actually lower than the botom of the TC. I'll have to look at a V-8 to see why it is different unless you have modified yours to pull the drivetrain higher. (?)

I would have thought that the V6 and V8 were exactly the same drivetrain, exlcuding minor gearing differences.

Over on Yotatech there was a thread for a custom plate on a tube frame from Demello. I forgot to call over there to see if they ever built them in any quantity.
