4th Gen Trash Bag Holder

I have a bag in nearly 100% of the time. It's so convenient to put wrappers, napkins, floss picks...in the bag just by reaching back without taking my eye's off the road. It also makes a great receptacle when cleaning the interior, window's...I love it. Great for trips with the family, and location is great too.

Does anyone use the trash bag holder in the 4th gen 4Runners???

Never have used it. I keep the rear seats folded down normally, and have the dog and guns/ammo/clays/targets, etc back there.

I put the rear seats up when there is a need to for other folks, but when that happens, I've never remembered about that trash bag holder.

One thing to note...that damn rear vent's right above the trash bag holder so be sure not to throw away any smelly, moldy stuff!!!

I have a great suggestion for trash bags for the trash bag holder, they work great... I use dog "poop bags" similar to these.... http://www.scot-petshop.com/shop/images/uploads/jrbscoopthepoopbag.400jpg.jpg

Mine are black with no print; they come in a small flat shaped box which takes up little room in the glove box, very inexpensive and the bag "handles" fit perfectly in the trash bag holder clip holes and they are the perfect size so that when full of garbage they just touch the floor. Then when full, just pop out, tie the handles and toss in the garage can, then pop-in a new bag.

If your not using the trash can holder... gets some of these bags and try it... you'll be happy you did. This holder is a great feature, especially in such a compact interior.

Well you all know the saying. "We learn something new everyday" I was wondering what the crap that thing on the back of the console was, awesome!!

Going with Ridgers idea. Thanks

I just wish the bag designed for it wasnt so expensive. I cant make myself spend that much, but dont want to have a regular trash bag hanging in there 24/7.

I really like that Hilux Surf bag from the earlier link. It's perfect for that spot because it was made just for that purpose, but expensive. I wander if there is something similar to it that we could purchase for less money.

No I can say that I've never used my trash bag holder on my '05 but my friends think it's cool to look at. haha so other than people trying to figure out what it is it stays folded up on my console.

No need for a trash bag. That's what the express down window is for. Right?

Sorry... but its not cool or responsible to litter. In fact, its quite desrepectful to others who take pride in our environment. Cut it out and throw it in the trash!

On another note, I just purchase an 2006 Limited 4Runner and my trash holder/hanger doesn't fasten in anywhere when you put it down. I've never seen one in another vehicle ans wanted to know how it is supposed to fasten when folded down...

Does it clip in, snap in or what? I'm thinking I have a missing or broken clip...

Thanks,

There should be little grooves/slots along the bottom edge of the holder that are exposed when it is folded out for use (no clips). I find that a plastic grocery bag (or walmart bag, or any small plastic bag that size) fits perfectly--you can fold the handles over, slip them into the grooves, then wrap them around once and pull them snug--the bag stays put pretty well.

I don't know why anyone would pay money for a trash bag when you get them for free at almost any store you go to!

I'm not talking about hanging the bag. I'm referring to when it's not in the upright (out/pulled up)position for use with a bag.... How/where does it fasten when you push it down (folded down) out of the way?
