Don't see any threads about smog tests so I thought I would share my surprise at the result: zero emissions.
Needed to get the first bi-annual provincial smog "Drive Clean" test done for plate registration of the '04 V6. They found that the 4th Gen V6 isn't on the list of dyno exempt vehicles so they tried to run the test. However, they found it can't run on a single (rear) axle dyno because the traction control kicks in. They came asking if I knew if the truck had a traction control shut off switch because they couldn't find one. It doesn't (you can't defeat ATRAC) so they ran a 2 speed idle test instead (@ 2400 & 718 rpm.) They need to contact the MOE to inform them that the vehicle should be exempted from the dyno.
The Toy passed with "0" HC ppm and "0.00" CO %. First time I've seen that and I wasn't expecting it with ~140,000 Km's, but the tech didn't seem surprised. What have others experienced?
(Rant) So much for eco-freakos bashing the SUV. This proves that the T4R lives up to it's ULEV rating. I feel good now, knowing that I'm not contributing so much to global emissions. A guy riding a bicycle and farting pollutes more than my Toy. I admit that I burn more fuel on a mpg basis but don't get me started about global warming. The way I see it, no matter what the human impact is, we are still just in a cycle between ice ages. (Rant over)
