4th Gen V6 TRD exhaust installed

Morning everyone, I just wanted to let you guys know I installed a TRD exhaust for my 07 V6 last night and I just love it. I own a 3rd gen also and the engine roars more than the 07. The exhaust puts the exhaust tone in the realm of our stock FJ and not too drony (SP?) while making the overall truck sounds great. I also love the fact the single exhaust comes off and exits to the side like all Toyota 4Runners previously did. SO those who are not sure, the TRD is a good buy and installs very easy with an OEM finish. I'll try to get pictures up soon, but thought I would share with you guys/gals! I was thinking of getting a TRD exhaust for my 07. Did you get the single outlet or dual?

I got the single outlet one. I'll try and get a sound clip, but it pretty much sounds like a stock FJ.

Do you have any pics? How is the sound now that you have had it for a while? I am thinking of doing a custome set up with a muffler or getting a cat back like the trd for my V6.

The sound is throatier than my stock FJ exhaust. very rumbly in the lower RPMs and quiets out as you ease off the gas...pm me for my email address and I'll send you pics via email

Any down sides to it that you can think of? Any interior resonance that showed up that wasn't there before? Just curious, I've never driven/rode in an FJ, well at least outside of a parking lot, so I couldn't really use that as much of a comparison. I'm looking for more grunt and growl, but not one that'll be a big change in cabin noise levels on the highway.

The interior cabin does get a bit of moise compared to the stock one. Off the line you'll the notice the cabin noise much more, but once up to speed and easing off the gas will get you to a noise level that is just a bit gruntier than over stock. I hope this helps, but all I can tell you is that I've been racing cars on closed course for years and the noise does not bother me, but the noise is more noticable over the stock. If you could ride is an FJ with the stock exhaust would give you a good sense of it.

Do you know what the measurements of the TRD muffler are? It looks like it is a 6" or 7" round muffler. What is the length?

i compared the trd in the fj and my cherrybomb vortex on my 4th gen, i tellu guys, my costom cherrybomb sounded louder, and with the same engine, the trd is nice but the tip gave the truck a weird look. well for 158 with 3inch pipe in and out from the flange, and 70 for the muffler, its a better sounding exhaust.
