wbie to forum. Since my other car was totaled a couple weeks ago I am vigorously searching for a 4th gen w/4wd. However its been very frustrating finding one in good shape for the budget I have so I am now opening up my search for a 2wd and found a really nice 03" limited V8. My question how good are these in snow, gravel and a little mud with the so called limited slip?

It isn't a limited slip. It's a open with traction control. And I can't comment on snow but mine does fine in gravel and mud. I've gotten stuck in mud but rocking it got me unstuck and enough movement to get out. Haven't gotten stuck since and I have had shitty tires since I bought it. I have a 2003 Sr5 V8 2WD.
I drive in a lot of snow..and for the most part I keep my 4runner in 2wd mode. But for the deep stuff or climbing hills I put it 4wd. I have very good AT tires (Cooper Discovery AT3).
If I had a 2wd Pathfinder for driving in snow...I'd consider dedicated snow tires...along with added weight in the rear.
