4th Gen: Won't start after filling up at the gas station

Normal day. Me, the Mrs, the two kids. We stopped to fill the gas tank and while I was filling it, the Mrs and I are playing around in the front (no, not that kind). She's pushing buttons on the dash and so am I. The ignition was in the on position, but the engine is not running.

After the fill-up, I go to start it. Nothing. Everything else works. Everything, but the crank.

I checked the usual stuff. Then the not so usual stuff. I stared dumbly for a while then searched this forum for a fix. No info for my problem.

I pushed it into a parking spot as the Mrs starts running to the house to get her car (she runs 5k-15k races on a regular).

After about 20 minutes of total down time, it cranks right up.

This was two months ago. Not a hiccup since.

Any thoughts?

Possibly battery or alternator? When you parked the vehicle in the spot did you turn the key completely off?

Did you just recently buy this 4runner? If so at least now you know why the previous owner got rid of it.

Was she playing with your shifter?
I ask because it may not have been fully in Park or Neutral. Or the P/N switch is going bad?

This is probably what happened. It escapes me right now, but I'm sure that one of us did.
Is it that I just didn't have it all the way in gear? If so, that would explain why it's never happened before or again.
