4th generation coolant drain and fill

I am trying to change to coolant on my 06 SR5 V6. I drained the radiator and overflow which voided a little less than a gallon. I can't find the engine block drains for some reason. Can I just fill up the radiator/overflow with the amount I removed and do this again in a few weeks to remove more of the old coolant? Or can I run the car for a couple of minutes will that move some of the new fluid in and I can drain it again? Repeat until I use up the 2 jugs I bought from Toyota? Please help! TIA

Coolant Flush

I have a 2008 4Runner SR5 V6. I need to flush my cooling system for the first time. Does anyone know if I need the red or pink coolant? Also, about how much will my car hold (do I need one gallon or two)?

I saw a Pentofrost Pink Antifreeze Pre-Diluted coolant online. Is that ok to use or is it absolutely imperative I use Toyota coolant?

If you check your manual, you'll see the system holds 13 quarts, which is a bit more than the 2 gallons mentioned. The radiator only contains about half of that, maybe even less. If you drain the block, rad, and overflow, you can get about 11 quarts out of the system.

Might as well drain it all and switch to SLLC as long as you're going to the trouble, IMO.

I drained the rad and overflow...how do I drain the block? I see all these cute 'flush with garden hose' videos, ok great now how do I get the proper coolant mix back in this MF? The reason my Runner isn't a POS is having done things properly, if I can't sort out a way to do the flush & fill myself then I'll just get a shop to do it.

Hello. I've lurked a bit and learned a bit, but I need help, and I'm anxious to learn how badly I've screwed up.

2006 V6
engine: 1gr-fe

I am flushing the old coolant because I don't know what kind was put in, but I know it wasn't SuperLongLife Red like it asks for.

I've been using distilled water to dilute any existing coolant, making sure the engine gets warm enough to open the thermostat to circulate the water into the engine.

I wasn't having as much success as anticipated, so I later find out I can be draining the coolant from 2 plugs on the engine block. (I've been just draining from the Radiator).

So, I was able to loosen the bolt on the more difficult driver's side successfully...BUT when I went to the easier passenger side, I rotated the bolt CCW AND the spout rotated with it!!! I turned it about 90 degrees before deciding that was bad :doh:

Please tell me I didn't just ruin my cylinder block. ray:

Does anyone know what size the ID is for a vinyl line for the drains on the block of a V8? I have seen mixed numbers everywhere. Looking to entirely flush the LLC and go to SLLC on our 03.
